Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband bought a salt water (60 gallon) tank from someone, and emptied the water and left the sand in it when it was purchased. He had it in our garage for about 7 days, he brought it in and set it up, started adding the water and salt into thetank, and our whole family started sneezing and having sinus problems, and the tank kind of smells. Could the sand have mold, could that be what is making us feel like we have allergies and sneezing non stop? we ve all had to take allergy medicine and Mucinex and it s still bothersome.
It looks like some allergic or offensive chemical formation in your water gallon is causing allergy but it can cause other diseases too. Allergic sneezing occur due to air pollution, pollen, chemicals, wood smokes, fumes, etc) Either get it cleaned up properly or get rid of it.
Take non- sedating antihistamines (Levocetirizine or Allegra), decongestants, stay in the fresh air. If symptoms prevail visit ER & get X-ray PNS done to rule out sinusitis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
