Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I got a root canal last summer and a month later I noticed the beginning of alopecia. It has grown to the area if two approximately two quarters. I was supposed to get a crown and I am sure the tooth is infected again. Is my alopecia connected to my tooth infection or root canal? Should I see a dentist first or a dermatologist for my alopecia?
As per your query alopecia is mostly genetic and if you have a family history like aloepcia is present to your father or grandfather then you too are having the same reason. Few other causes of alopecia are certain known or unknown allergies, hormonal disruptions, chemotherapy, radiation, infections, medicines like steroids etc. But any relationship with root canal treatment and alopecia is controversial and has no known link. I would suggest you to consult a dermatologist and not a dentist in this regard..
Hope your query is solved..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
