What Causes Alternating Diarrhea And Constipation While On Lactulose And Miralax?

My 96 year old aunt suffers from constipation. Her dr has her taking Colace, Lactulose & Miralax. Now her system is irregular - diarrhea some day & constipation other days. I ve heard Red Aloe (Aloe Ferox) might help. If she decides to take Red Aloe, should she stop the other meds?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think she can try red aloe without stopping other medications. Changing diet is necessary and having a fiber-rich diet with integral bread, fruits, and vegetables. Also, she should increase physical activity walking more often.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
