What Causes Amenorrhea Along With Palpitations And Mood Swings?

I have not had a period for three months - my mood is very low and I have had labertinthitus. After laberinthitus I seem to be suffering from heart palpitations and trouble regulating my temperature. I also have an overwhelming sense of sadness for the fact my children are no longer small. I am 48 years old and my GP thinks it may be helpful to start on HRT as she thinks I am not coping well with my hormones. Do you agree

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello,

Presence of sad mood, irregular periods, heart palpitations, and a sense of change in temperature clearly indicates that you are going through menopause.

This is quite regular for someone who is 48 years of age and I think starting HRT is an option if the symptoms are disabling.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ashok Kumar, Psychiatrist
