What Causes Amenorrhea And Severe Fatigue?

Hello...I am 45 years old and have not had a period for 7 months. I am very fatigued and have no energy. I am also having trouble getting up for work and have had 4 jobs within the last 2 months because I am having trouble getting there or deciding what I want to do..I m really just down in the dumps? Is this normal for menopause?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
I understand your concern.

Amenorrhea and fatigue may be because of menopause/anaemia/hypothyroidism.

-I advise you to get your blood haemogram and blood thyroid level tested to rule out anaemia and hypothyroidism.
Further management depends upon results of these tests.

-Healthy diet, adequate hydration, adequate rest with minimum 8 hours of sleep and regular exercising will maintain your physical and psychological well being.
-Multivitamin with calcium supplementation may be needed.

-If you experience hot flushes, vaginal dryness, joints pain, mood swings or your present symptoms worsen, you may need hormone replacement therapy. You need to meet gynaecologist in that regard.

Hope this information helps.
Wish you good health
