Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, ok I had the mirina iud in. It was placed 4 months ago. I never got a period on it ever. I noticed I started to ovulate on Thursday or Friday (6-7 days ago) I had unprotected sex basically every day from Thursday until Monday morning. (With the iud in and ovulating) I then required my iud to be removed and it was removed Tuesday about 12 hours after having unprotected sex 2-3 days post ovulation. Now I am 2 days after removal with nausea, so certain food makes me sick when I smell it, brown discharge, bloating, and tired... could I have become pregnant due to how close everything was together?
Ova won't survive for more than one day, and sperm may live up to three days. Your device is there during ovulation and even 24 hours after ovulation. So don't worry pregnancy is not possible (until unless ovulation date is changed unknowingly).
Brown discharge may be due to infection or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) or implantation bleed. Please consult your gynecologist she will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
