What Causes Ammonia Odor In Stool And Bloating After Eating?
Occasionally my BM smells like amonia? Why? Have a lot of bloating after eating. Can t drink milk anymore causes excessive gas that goes way up in my rib cage on both sides. I m a diabetic on Lantus insulin, Metformin and started using Bydurian 7 wks ago. I have had the amonia smell to my BM s before I started Bydurian. Should I have any specific blood test for my Liveer or Kidneys?
Incomplete digestion of food can lead to putrefaction in the gut which causes ammonia-smelling stools. If you are not absorbing nutrients then your immunity will be compromised. Probiotics can be taken thrice a day after food to improve your gut health. Anti-foaming agents like Simethicone can be taken to reduce bloating symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
