Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I have an erratic heart beat, never diagnosed (with holter tracings) as Afib or AFlut, but atrial in nature. Basically only symptomatic at high exercise levels. Resting pulse 40-45. Dr. suggested an option of Tikosyn. Are you familiar with a finding of Tikosyn lowering RHR by +/- 5 bpm? Thanks Chris
Based on the history you have shared, you need to consult an electrophysiologist and get EP studies done. That can figure out the cause and origin of arrhythmia.
Meanwhile, Tikosyn can be taken however if the pulse is below 45, you need to review the dosing and frequency by follow up with your primary care physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin,
General & Family Physician
