Hi one of my friend has an abscess just beside the liver. I want to know what could cause the abscess . I also want to know why would it be a critical condition that he is in ICU and tubes are inserted in his mouth(what do the tubes mean ) . He was then moved to isolation room does it mean the condition has worsen ?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Abscess besides the liver can be due to various causes. The abscess can be bacterial in origin, parasitic etc. Insertion of tubes in mouth is for feeding if the patient is not able to take food from mouth. The condition of the patient can be commented by the treating doctor.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
