Hello, i have been having a problem lately. i smell a chlorine like from the pool smell yet i havent been to the pool in months. my nose also runs a clear liquid out of it and drains that chlorine tasting/smelling substance into my throat. please help?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of altered sense of smell and taste which could be due to sinusitis i.e inflammation of sinuses, oral infection, nerve dysfunction like glossopharyngeal and could be due to side effects of certain medications. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to maintain proper oral hygiene and use oral corticosteroids as well because if it's due to any allergy it will resume back taste. Take diet rich in zinc supplements as that will recover taste. You should take proper antibiotic an and anti-inflammatory medication course to suppress sinus infection. You should visit neurologist once as well and take medications which lower down autoimmune or nervous system disorder if it is due to nerve dysfunction.
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
