What Causes An Altered Sense Of Smell?

So I m just sitting here randomly in my bed, watching tv.. And I smelt like puke on me. But it s all clean clothes. I stand up and randomly keep smelling the same smell. And it s making me even more nauseous and is making me want to throw up. Is that bad?

Impaired smell is the inability to smell properly. Impaired smell can describe a complete inability to smell, or the partial inability to smell. It’s a symptom of several medical conditions and may be temporary or permanent.Temporary loss of smell usually occurs along with allergies or bacterial or viral infections, such as:

nasal allergies
influenza
colds
hay fever
Imaging tests will reveal whether there's a polyp or other abnormal growth obstructing your nasal passages. They can also help determine if an abnormal growth or tumor in the brain is altering your sense of smell. In some cases, your doctor may need to take a sample of cells from within the nose to make a diagnosis.
