What Causes An Altered Sense Of Taste After A Tonsillectomy?
Hi there I am 31 yr old female and I had a tonsillectomy and adenoid removal two weeks ago. Since then I have completely lost my sense of tasting anything sweet. Anytime I eat anything sweet I have this horrid sour/bitter taste at the sides and base of my tongue. Please tell me when it will go back to normal? Is this a gradual process or will I just wake up one day with my Ability to taste sweet again? I have finished my course of medication (endone) so I know that s not the cause. Please help

Thanks for your question on HCM & I do understand your concern
“As” per your clinical history is concerned you have altered sense of taste after tonsillectomy and do complete your medication course first. Do take a multivitamin capsules regularly at bed time and iron caps in day time and take vitamin B-12 injection every alternate day upto one month then once a month after one month.you will get your taste very soon without any problem.
