Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have an extremely bad taste in my mouth. When I first noticed it I had a sore tooth and ended up having it pulled after being on antibiotics for an infection. I also had a virus and ended up taking antibiotics about two weeks before that. It has been three months now (beg. of Nov) that I had the virus and three weeks since I had my tooth pulled. I thought I was getting better for about a week after the tooth was pulled...even though I have still been coughing. I am constantly coughing because I feel like I need to clear my throat and spit up a clear phlem . I don t have much energy or appetite either.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain bad taste in mouth along with coughing in an urge to clear the throat can be due to accumulation of mucous at the back of throat and can be due to chronic upper respiratory tract infection, pot nasal drip caused due to sinus infection while can also be due to acid reflux.. I would suggest you to consult an ENT expert and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture and investigations like PNS view x ray of sinuses in case if sinus infection is suspected will help in diagnosis and treatment will be advised accordingly.. As of now you can start gargling with warm saline solution.. Do steam inhalation.. You can also chew sugarfree chewing gum that are flavoured and gargle with flavoured antiseptic mouthwash to mask the bad taste.. Drink plenty of water..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
