Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having problems with my sense of taste. This is a recent development that is one symptom that s been going on since last year in November - started with nasal congestion and a sinus infection was diagnosed and treated with 2 Z-packs and then Flonase was swithed out to Dymista spray. I can only use the Dymista one time per day, other wise i get rapid heartbeat at two sprays per day in each nostril. Loss of taste began with taking the Dymista, but ENT says that is not a side effect of Dymista.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of altered sense of taste which seems to be mainly due to sinusitis and it could be due to infection of oral cavity leading to gingivitis as well.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may order blood and swab test and start treatment accordingly. It does not seems to be side effect of Dymist. Do warm saline gargles and chew on sugar free candies. For now maintain proper oral hygiene , eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Also drink green tea thrice a day.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
