What Causes An Artery To Get Clogged Post Carotid Artery Surgery?
My wife had Carotid artery surgery this last December and went back to her Vascular surgeon in February and an ultrasound showed it completely open. She went back today 4 months later and an ultrasound showed it 90% blocked. He recommended a stint. How could it get clogged so fast? The surgeon mentioned something about scar tissue. What is your ideas on this?
Scar tissue sounds about right. This would be considered what we call intimal hyperplasia at the site of the endarterectomy and a stent is a good way to treat this.
