Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter found out she has an enlarged liver and spleen. She has headaches and can not sleep. She will be having a hepatitus test done although this is precautionary. Also having MRI of head. They are not saying what is causing this. Leukemia and cancer along with nf2 are documented with my family. Is it possible this is something she is facing?
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
This is called hepatosplenomegaly and usuaally is caused by infectious causes such as mononucleosis. Leukemia and cancer are the last things to think of. Treatment depends on exact cause. if this is caused by diet, obesity and diabetes then dietary and lifestyle changes will be beneficial in every case. Alcohol and viral hepatitis are most common causes in elderly and in this case medical evaluation is required. Also if there is infectious disease or biliary duct disorders then you need to do some tests to rule out more serious issues which require specific medical treatment. I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
