What Causes An Enlarged Spleen Besides Liver Issues, Especially With A History Of Hormone-positive Breast Cancer And A Positive ANA?

What causes a spleen to be enlarged? The liver has been ruled out and my blood counts look ok. The dr mentioned spleen cancer and has ordered a pet scan. What else could it be? I did have invasive lobular hormone positive breast cancer one year ago. Rheumatologist has ruled out most autoimmune diseases but I have positive Ana.

Hi,

Though the common site of metastasis of breast cancer are lungs, liver and brain. However, the possibility of metastasis to spleen can not be ruled out completely. Hence, a PET scan seems the right option to confirm or rule out the presence of metastasis in the spleen also, particularly in presence of splenomegaly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
