What Causes An Inability To Walk With Difficulty In Use The Fingers?

someone i know has a sudden onset of an inability to walk and is having diffuculty with the use of his fingers. He has abused drugs and alcohol almost all of his life and is now 55 yrs old. I have only spoken to him on the phone and have not actually sen him. Because he is so often intoxicated it is difficult to tell if he is drunk or not but his responses to my questions are noticably slow. Can younarrow down what e may have

not really without seeing him. Have to say, haven't seen any > 50 yr olds survive cocaine and seen strokes, heart attacks, arrhythmias, from it. Movment problems on one side of the body basically means a stroke.
