What Causes An Increase In The Blood Pressure?

I am on atenolol 25 MG daily after switching from lovestatin due to coughing side affects. I don t think the atenolol is the right fix. Today after light exertion my BP was wooshing in my left ear so I took my bp, which registered at 151/101. Is this level dangerous and what now? Does the med need to be reevaluated? Am I at risk for stroke or heart attack?

hi
for this measurement of blood pressure atenolol 25 is insufficient, more than controlling BP, it controls the heart rate.
there are many newer drugs with least side effects like losartan, telmisartan( aldosterone antagonist drugs), diuretics & many other.
please check out for your creatinine levels, electrolytes,ECG, with cardiology opinion.
avoid oily, salty foods & stress
all the best
take care
