What Causes An Infant To Push Backwards When Placed On The Floor?
Hello, I have a day care and work with infants. I am very new to this and is concerned that one of the babies I care for, she will be 9 months old on Dec 1st. She does not flip over nor sit for more than 5 seconds at a time without falling over. She is however beginning to push backwards when placed on the floor on her tummy and juts forward in the walker chair. Should I be overly concerned?
It is understandable to be concerned, at nine months, most babies can get into a sitting position and sit without support. They may also be able to pull to stand. It would be best to convey your concerns to her parents and gently suggest that she is assessed by her pediatrician to see if she is on track.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
