What Causes An Itchy Rash On The Face While On HCTZ?

I have been taking hctz for about two yrs now and I have developed an intermittent very itchy pimple like facial rash. I was dxd with Rosacea but I think it might be the medication. No treatment for the Rosacea works so I cut my hctz dose in half and it seems to help somewhat. What type of rash would this medication cause?

Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
Rash is a very rare effect of Hydrochlortiazide.
If you take half tablet of Hydrochlortiazide it will affect your blood pressure. So is better to consult your cardiologist about this side effect and change the medicine.
Anyway some advices that I can give to you for the rosacea are:
-Use chamomile Compress. Chamomile is a great remedy for rosacea due to its anti-inflammatory property that helps reduce inflammation and redness.
-Apply Green Tea.
-Apply Lavender Oil.
-Apply Honey.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
