What Causes An Itchy Rash With Intermittent Abdominal Pain In A Child?

Hi, My daughter is 5 years old. She has had a rash for about 4 days now. The rash has small raised bumps, kind of like if she had goose bumps. Her stomach hurts off and on and her neck also hurts occasionally. I have been giving her benadryl but it doesn t do much to aleave the rash. The rash is the worst on her underarms and inner thighs but it s on most of her body. Her hands and feet seem to be swollen. The rash is also very itchy. I took her into the pediatrician 2 days ago and they think it is just a virus. They tested her for strep and the results were negative. Her skin seems warm to the touch

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management antihistamines like cetirizine or pheniramine can be tried.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
