Hello,

There are a variety of things that can cause itchy rib inside her chest. It is could be from muscle, skin, nerve, organ under the rib etc.

Having an itchy muscle is the sensation of an itch that's not on the surface of the skin but it felt deep under the skin in the muscle tissue. It's usually present without any rash or visible irritation.

Itch also has a relationship with neural health and pain. Itchy muscles are not actually muscle tissues that want to be scratched but nerves in the muscles sending the wrong signal.

It may also be related to how nerves respond to increased blood flow during exercise and warm temperatures. Itchy muscle aren't dangerous, however they may be a symptom of another health issue.

You should talk with a doctor about any other causes if the feeling persists. Fibromyalgia is a condition with unknown cause that affects the muscles.

The pain and fatigue in muscles from fibromyalgia may also cause muscle itch. Other symptom include unexplained pain and weakness (chronic fatigue syndrome).

People with chronic fatigue syndrome may experience: itching, chronic pain, digestion problems, dizziness, bone and joint problems.

You can try to massage with a gentle, fragrance-free lotion, take a cool shower or bath to slow blood flow, apply ice to numb the sensation, meditate to calm her mind, acetaminophen (Tylenol) may reduce muscle inflammation and therefore reduce itching.

Every answer I could give you is only a guess and it shouldn't be taken under consideration as the exam of the area or your granddaughter can't be performed. You should bring her to see her doctor.

It could be the initial stage of herpes. It could be allergy or anything else.

If the condition still persists, her doctor can help create a treatment plan. In some cases, antidepressants, anti-anxiety medication, and antihistamine may help.

If she has extreme or persistent itching, especially if it's related to other changes in her health, it's important to work with her doctor to find the cause and get treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
