Hello,
Thank you for your query.
One sided
nipple discharge of sudden onset could be due a tumor and need to be checked out immediately.
Would you please clarify a few things for me?
-how long did you breathe feed your last child?
- any lumps or skin changes on your left breast including dimpling or discoloration?
-any family history of breast, ovarian or uterine disease?
-did you take any forms of hormone
contraceptive earlier.
-why did you have a partial hysterectomy?
I recommend :
- an
OBGYN consult
-mammogram for lump or an MRI of the left breast. To look for any tumors
-testing the oily secretion to check for infection
-
blood test (
complete blood count and other relevant investigations based on tests and clinical exam)
Please don't squeeze your breast. Colostrum is oily but is unlikely more than year after you stopped
breastfeeding and it usually occurs in both breasts.
Pain usually signifies infection and can be treated with antibiotics.
Try hot and cool compresses over your breast to relieve pain. See which works.
Of there is swelling or collection of secretions, hot compress will help drain it and cool compresses will help prevent pain and Inflammation.
In this case, you need to use hot compresses for 15 mind and after half hour cold compresses for 15 minutes.
Anti inflammatory medications like ibuprofen can help with the pain as does tylenol (
acetaminophen). Please consult your doctor to make correct diagnosis and treat early.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you recover soon
