Hello, This question is for my dad whose health is worsening these past 6-7 weeks. He s had rapid weight loss, losing almost 30 pounds in 7 weeks. His food intake has gone from small amounts of solids to just protein shakes and boost, everything else makes him nauseous. He has had blood tests done that show elevated prostate levels, lower hemoglobin levels and then a second blood test that showed his liver enzymes were higher. He has had a few sharp pains on different days - we guessed that the food he had on those days (sausage and chicken pot pie with rich pastry) may have been the culprits. He never feels like he can quite empty his bladder. He has had two ultrasounds; the first one showed nothing, it was done on the lower abdoment, but the most recent one showed that his kidney was swollen, but everything else looked good. so they have ordered a CAT scan on that. We initially thought something might be going on with his kidneys, but the first ultrasound showed that it was fine, along with a urine test/sample. But the second ultrasound, where they were looking at his abdomen and gall bladder, showed his kidney swollen. We are trying to put the pieces together with what we know. Thanks!
