What Causes Anaemia Along With Low WBC And Platelet Count?

my son just got back his blood results and his doctor said he was enemic, low white blood cells and low platates. She is sending us to a Hemotologist . Am so worried for him. He has spina bifidia as well. He is on a number of seizure drugs as well.

Thanks for posting your query.

He has Low hemoglobin ( Anemia ) , Low white blood cells and low Platelets also . This we call it as Pancytopenia.

Pancytopenia usually indicates that there is something that is causing the Bone Marrow ( Inside of bone where Haemoglobin , White blood cell and Platelets are produced ) to hypofunction.

This cause could be due to his Seizure medications or due to Viral Infections or sometimes due to some serious diseases like Aplastic Anaemia or Myelodysplasia .

Kindly consult Haematologist as soon as possible . He shall advise for a test called Bone marrow aspiration and Biopsy for the evaluation.
