What Causes Anal Bleeding And Severe Constipation In An Infant?

My son has been bleeding out his butthole and he is 5 months old and I don t know if they just had a really hard stool because I mean I know we had a hard stool but I don t know if that could cause that much bleeding and he s done it at least three times and last couple of days

Hello,

A common cause of blood in an infant's stool is a slight anal tear (fissure) from baby straining with the passage of the stool.

These generally heal quickly, but your doctor may suggest lubricating your baby's rectum with a glycerin suppository, using a warm saline bath, or steroid ointment.
