What Causes Anger And Abusive Nature Despite Taking Risperidone And Trihexyphenidyl?
Hello sir , My mother has been struggling with schizophrenia symptoms . But symptoms seem not very frequent . Symptoms : 1. Anger 2. Doubting people 3. Not trusting anybody 4. Abusing while in anger (happens 2-3 times only in a year ) Medication : She is taking Risperidone 3mg , trihexyphenidyl 2 mg in half quantity when she gets disturbed . She doesn t admit to the fact that she is ill . Need your guidance in this case

As i can see that your mother is suffering from schizophrenia, on risperidone 1 mg as when needed.
Following are certain points I wish you to understand here,
1) The Insight in such illness is absent in 90% of cases.
2) If you say she is having these symptoms, in such case the current treatment is highly inadequate. Average dose of Risperidone is usually 4-6 mg daily, if needed 8 mg is required in severe cases. Trihexyphenidyl is an adjuvant drug given to tackle its side effects and not a primary drug.
3) The compliance is poor, as she needs to take these medications on daily basis and not just when required.
Considering above facts,
my suggestions to you would be,
1) take her to psychiatrist ASAP.
2) reconsider the treatment and option of depot medications.
3) Side by psychosocial therapies are advised. Ref to a psychologist for this.
