What Causes Ankle And Leg Swelling In A Patient With Arthritis?

My dad is 65 year old man has arthritis and is not having pain in his right ankle, but his ankle is very swollen and his leg now from the knee down is also extremely swollen. He is border line type 2 diabetic and I m wondering what is causing the swelling. It is worse after driving and being active throughout day. It has been swollen for a long period of time and not gotten better. What do you suggest?

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if this is the ankle swelling then condition need to be examined for some renal pathology, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease, and it may not be due to arthritis, some time it may be due to low hemoglobin, else this is nothing to worry, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
I find this answer helpful
