What Causes Ankle Stiffness While Having An Ankle Cast Post Injury?

I have a fiber glass cast for broke ankle. I had it for 4 days now. I always keep it elevated but occasionally I sit or use bed side commode and I dangle my leg. When I dangle initially it felt fine starting yesterday it feels really thight. Is that normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

After cast, inflammation or swelling is a common complication specially independant parts, like legs or feet and sometimes casts need to be temporarily cut in middle to give some space for swelling but it can lose its effectiveness in doing so usual recommendations are using anti inflammatory drugs like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen along with co enzyme 10 and keeping it elevated for long durations and avoiding tilting it downwards must be ensured.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
