What Causes Anxiety And Elevated Heart Beat?

Hi I'm 19 and I have anxiety and sometimes my heart goes fast whenever I do anything it's never went past 100 I dont take drugs I do smoke I dont have any family history with bad hearts and I wasent born with a heart problem but I'm still scared whenever it goes realy fast whenever I walk run or even stand up...

Thanks for writing to us.
It is indeed true that anxiety increases your heart rate like any other physical or mental stress/ stimuli. this normal. However if you can not find any logical reason for the episodes of rise in your heart rate, do consult your GP. Best help would be to get an ECG done at the time of high heart rate. Since it never went past 100, likelihood of a significant pathology is low.
