Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I have recently been having problems with my over-irrational phobia of the dark and the unknown. It has really messed with my sleep schedule and often keeps me up late into the night with anxiety attacks. I have also been having problems with my anxiety in large crowds of people and have recently been experiencing brief panic attacks. I ve dealt with my nyctophobia since I was three years old and my social anxiety has only started to occur recently and was especially more intense during my recent vacation. I have not been diagnosed for any of the issues stated, and I was wondering if my symptoms are severe enough to be considered any form of anxiety. If you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.
It is clear you do have anxiety and certain phobias that generally go hand in hand with anxiety. I would advise you to look for someone that may do some psychotherapy sessions for you and help you manage fears and anxiety. Also, SSRI drugs can be combined with psychotherapy for better results.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
