General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Antidepressant drugs may have a high risk of suicidal thoughts especially in children and teens so close follow up with the doctor is needed. In this case, it is very important that you discuss this with the psychiatrist. It is best if your son is treated by a psychiatrist for children as they have more experience of the potential challenges of treating depression and anxiety in this age group.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
