What Causes Anxiety, Insomnia, Night Sweats, Numbness And Dry Mouth?

Hi, My name is Max Haig, I m 29 years old and around 155 lbs. I m fit, pretty lean and as far as I know in good health. I try to eat well and exercise 3-4 times a week. I have been a smoker (around 6 a day) for the past few years and recently quit. I have also been abusing marijuana (using several times a day) for the past few years as well and also recently quit. I also take 5-htp (37.5mg) and L-tyrosine (375mg) as prescribed by my doctor as a natural anti depressant and was previously on Cipralex (20mg) Recently I have been experiencing severe anxiety, insomnia, night sweats, numbness, dry mouth, and all sorts of unusual physical symptoms recently. I suspect that this is withdrawal and that I should not be too concerned. However that is difficult when in the midst of an anxiety attack.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM

You are 29 years old and have good health. You have been abusing marijuana and recently quit it. Now you are taking 5HTPn and L-tyrosine for depression. The symptoms of anxiety, insomnia, night sweats, numbness, dry mouth and unusual physical symptoms are persisting.

Marijuana is cannabis and the drug is known to cause psychological dependence and it doesnt result in severe withdrawal symptoms. But mild increase in anxiety, insomnia etc symptoms can be seen if an individual has abused high doses of drug. The symptoms you are having could be getting potentiated by stopping marijuana.

I would advise you to report to your doctor if symptoms persist. The symptoms of anxiety can respond by low dose benzodiazepines (as clonazepam, etizolam etc) or medicines like propranolol etc. If natural supplements don't result in improvement then there is need to start conventional treatment of depression. Cipralex or escitalopram is a SSRI drug and it can safely control your symptoms. Visit your psychiatrist for prescription and evaluation.

Thanks, hope this helps you. Take Care
