Recently been diagnosis with arthritis. Blood work negative for RA, B12, thyroid and iron all good. What could be cause the swelling and feeling in my feet? YYYY@YYYY
Ostheoarthritis which is arthritis that develops with age and especially in overweight patients may cause swelling in the joints that it is affecting. it should not cause redness or local heat though so if you notice any redness or local heat you will need to see your doctor again. Other causes of the swelling especially if it affects the shins and not just the joints, might be due to varicose veins, heart problems, kidney and liver issues and also medications. If you have swelling on the shins you will need to talk with the doctor and rule out the conditions mentioned above.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
