Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 20 year old daughter seems to be having a difficult time with social interaction. She used to be very outgoing and friendly, but she can t even seem to get through a 5 hour shift at work without having a panic attack. She is going in to her 3rd year of college and i think the stress of money, work and school has become to overwhelming for her. I know she has nt been eating right so i am trying to get her on a healthy eating plan along with vitamins and supplements. I am very concerned she is getting depressed and that she needs more help than i can do for her at this point. Thank you for any information you can offer. Helpless Mom
As per my clinical experience, the narrated behavior in adolescent indicate possible internal psychic conflict which can be part of adjustment disorder, depression or personality disorder. She requires an immediate evaluation with an expert psychologist with detailed history which is of pivotal importance to diagnose and cure her accordingly. Meanwhile you can try to develop more friendly atmosphere with her in the home and can request friends to do the same to help her in an indirect way.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
