Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am very healthy but have had a diagnosis of a-fib in the past 2 years plus 2 cardioversions. I will be 90 years old in August. Am I likely to die very soon? I m under the care of a cardiologist and feel great---played 15 holes of golf several days ago but had another episode of a-fib a few days later.(plus the 2nd cardioversion)
Honestly speaking, there is no specific cause for Atrial Fibrillation (AF). It actually defects in the conduction system of the heart. As such it is not life threatening but at your age of 90 years, this can be lethal.
So better to doctor regular check-ups with your cardiologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
