Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is 17 years old. He lost his father in 2012. Over the past few years, at times, he has said he hears voices. It comes and goes, he says. He plays video games quite a bit and had speech problems when he was younger. Here recently, he has told me that he has seen his Dad. That he tells him negative things. He says he knows its not real and otherwise seems happy and not withdrawn. He works 2 jobs and does decent in school. He s also had a couple instances of dizziness and low blood pressure...upon which we were told was normal for a growing teen boy. But I m really concerned with these recent events of seeing his deceased father. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks so much.
He is having auditory hallucination problem due to mental trauma in past by father death. He can have schizophrenia like mental illness as hallucination present. If repeated symptoms of hallucination occurs then he has to put on some antipsychotic medication.
I suggest you consult him to psychiatrist for detailed evaluation, counselling and get treatment under psychiatrist guidance.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
