What Causes Back Pain Radiating To The Hip?

I have a pain in the left side of my back and radiates to my side. I have taken Motrin, rest and some stretching exercises. I have had this pain since Saturday. I do a lot of gardening and just got back from taking care of my granddaughters, ages 6, 6 and 6 months old

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is possible that the pain is related to injury or strain of muscles in the area.

The use of cold compress (at least twice daily for 10 to 15 mins) along with rest and the continued use of the anti-inflammatory medication should help reduce your discomfort.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
