Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a question. My papsmear says i have predominance of coccobacilli and my gram stain identify i have numerous coccobacilli and polymorphonuclear leukocytes. I already take doxycycline .finish also suppository.why it is still coming back every month before my period? Its itching and i have vaginal discharge.
the coccobacilli are normal inhabitants of the vaginal tract. when they get a chance to become florid, they result in itching and whitish discharge. i am glad you have taken your course of antibiotics but sorry to hear a lack of relief. in the best of my opinion, pls consider the following:
1. pls get a complete white blood cell count, blood sugar and ESR test done to rule out supressed immunity or diabetes for once, 2. pls ask your sexual partner also to take a course of antibiotics along with you to ensure that your recurrence is not a result of cross-infection 3. in case of any unsafe sexual exposure or unsafe needle exposure, pls undergo HIV testing.
hopefully, all these reports must point point to an underlying cause of recurrence, which we can deal with and get you some relief.
get well soon!
