What Causes Bacterial Vaginosis?

I am 40 years of age. I have been in the same relationship for 8 years. What is bacterial vaginosis from? Should the man get medication for this? Its been over 2 weeks since my treatment. I feel very fatigue, knee aches, a little nauseated very tired. What could be going on now?

**

1. Bacterial Vaginosis [BV] is a comon condition and although is not harmful but can cause disturbing symptoms like: vaginal odor and vaginal discharge.
2. before diagnosing BV, one has to exclude possibility of STDs, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia.
3. Since you are with the same partner for 8 years thus one has to exclude other conditions for BV like: antibiotic use, IUD's, smoking,douching
4. Male partners usually do not require treatment but for management purpose aa course of metronidazole can be given to husband and wife simultaneously for 7 days.
5. since women with BV are more susceptible to PID, infection, inflammation of upper female genital tract thus seek an opinion of a gynecologist.
