What Causes Bad Reflux While Sleeping And Shortness Of Breath?
I had a case of bad reflux about four weeks ago while sleeping. It woke me up gasping for air. The next day I began to get a chest cold. It has lasted on and off for 4 weeks. The last few days I have gotten shortness of breath and yesterday my left side of my chest started hurting. It hurts /aches when I move, breathe and is worse when I try to cough. My cough is productive. It is sore when I press around my left breast. I am tired and not very hungry. I think I inhaled some of the material from my reflux episode since a cracking cough developed right away. Do you think I have pneumonia?
According to your complain you have problem cough and chest pain that may be because of lung infection. Chest x-ray helpful to rule out a lung lesion or any other changes.
Consult a pulmonologist for further diagnosis. Auscultation of respiratory sound helpful in diagnosis. Sputum culture test can done if needed. Detail history and physical examination give exact idea about problems. Proper antibiotics course helpful in infection condition. Start a treatment according to cause.
I hope my guidance is helpful to you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Rachana Goswami
