What Causes Bad Taste On Tongue Along With Burning Sensation On Roof Of Mouth?

I have had a terrible taste in my mouth and excessive saliva and notice green or brown color on my toothbrush. It also burns my tongue and roof of my mouth. I was told by my GI doctor that it was from my. Gerd. I recently had a nissan fundaplasty to resolve my hiatal hernia and gerd and the taste has gotten worse. I m afraid that this is still stomach acid which he says will go away in time. But if the procedure took take of my pain, then why still the bad taste, Help

Hi Dear,

Welcome to Health Care Magic Team.

Understanding your concen.

Bad taste of tongue and roof of mouth along with burning sensation and greenish brownish discoloration on tooth brush is because of acidic secretions from stomach definately. After nissan fundoplasty your symptoms still persisting which could be because of side effects which occurs along with fundoplasty and keeps on causing acid reflex. In this case you should consult your operating doctor. You should take small meals 6-8 per day, take large amount of water, take vitamin C tablets, avoid tobacco, alcohol , carbonated drinks.

Another reason is it will take around 6 weeks for soft tissue mucosa to heal after fundoplasty so you should wait till that time and your taste will get back to normal.

I would suggest you to have diet alteration as suggested and contact your physician if symptoms persists.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
