What Causes Balance Issues In A Type 2 Diabetic Patient?

I am very concerned about my husband. He is having trouble with walking and balance upon waking. He stumbles and feels drunk for a few hours today and the last two days. This is the first he has told me about it. He has type2 diabetes, hypertension but to my knowledge is mostly under control. He does not smoke, does not drink alcohol regularly. What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are many medical conditions related to the balance issues.

It can be an immediate change of the blood pressure or glycemic level which can cause the symptoms.

I suggest to measure regularly the blood pressure and also check the glycemic level regularly.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
