Hello and welcome to HCM,
A bald patch on scalp, thinning of hair, snapping of hair at age of 18 years can occur due to various disorders like infection,
hormonal disturbance or autoimmune disorder.
Clinical assessment of the scalp and hair is required.
Fungal infection can lead to loss of hair especially over the crown of head.
Hormonal disorder can lead to untimely hair loss.
Autoimmune disorder called
alopecia also causes loss of hair.
Autoimmune disorders are more common in females thus, there is more possibility of autoimmune disorder as compared to infectious or hormonal disorder.
In alopecia the hair break slightly above the root and have an exclamation mark like appearance.
The hair loss leads to formation of a bald patch.
However, examination by a
dermatologist is required to assess the scalp and hair.
Alopecia responds to treatment and is reversible.
Thanks and take care
