I have been belching a little, my ears are irritated, everything has a bitter taste and it feels like I have something hung in my throat. when I cough I gag and start vomiting.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC...

I have gone through your query and can very well understand your health concerns..

As per your complain belching, irritation in ears , bitter taste in mouth and swollen tonsils seems to be due to Gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD) commonly known as Acid Reflux..
In this condition there is reflux of acid from stomach back into throat and at times mouth causing bitter taste in mouth as well as other symptoms as you are experiencing..

Due to continuous irritation to the throat and tonsils by acidic content from stomach there is inflammation of tonsils..

You should consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated..

In case of GERD the physician can confirm the diagnosis by doing an Endoscopy..
If the diagnosis is confirmed he can prescribe you Proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole
Antacid like Milk of Magnesia half an hour before meals can help..
Avoid spicy and acidic foods..
Drink plenty of water to maintain hydration and helps on acid dilution..
Warm saline gargles can help in shrinkage of tonsils..
Take plenty of probiotics like Yoghurt..
Take walk after meals..
Sleep with head and chest slightly raised as compared to feet..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
