What Causes Bipolar Disorder?

I have 2 daughters with bipolar disorder. Years ago I was traveling through Missouri where my first wife family came from. I recently read and aricle about the incredible production of lead in Missouri. and I wondered if there was a connection with the lead in Missouri and bipolar disorder. and I found several mention of it

Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
The major risk factors for bipolar disorder. They are-
- Genetics - with presence of the disorder in parents or siblings-the chances of getting bipolar disorder are there.
-psychological trauma due to high psychological stress period like loosing a dear one.
- It can be a curse of drug abuse ( alcohol, drugs)
-Due to changes in brain structure- the cause not being well defined- one of them could be due to exposure to lead - which ( being fat soluble ) gets deposited in brain fat & causes the change in brain structure.
