What Causes Black And Blue Discoloration In The Groin Area?

Hi,my mother had an angiogram last week and she will have to have a stent put in at the end of August.Her arm has been left completely black and blue the whole length of the arm and also her groin area is completely black and blue.The doctors had a problem getting a vein and something was said about a vein rupture,would this be unusual for this procedure?

apply ice pack and apply thrombophob ointment can get the vein after half an hour.now the procedure can be completed. if there still problem then venesection can be done and cannula can be kept for such procedure.
