What Causes Black Discoloration Around The Neck And Armpit Of A Child?

My daughter has been tested for diabetes, results were negative. Her school has brought it to my attention previously and I did mention she had been tested with no diabetes detected. However, I received another letter of concern because my daughter does have the dark pigmentation around her neck and armpit area. It has been a few years that she has this discoloration. Is this something we should see a dermatologist about? I have my daughter and son tested for diabetes because it runs in our family and its never shown any positive signs in them.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Discoloration of neck and armpit can be due to hormonal imbalance. I suggest you get a few investigations namely - aldosterone, renin, and angiotensin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
