What Causes Black Eye And Bruising In Forehead In A Diabetic?

My mother woke up this morning with a black eye and bruising going into her forehead. She is diabetic, had open heart surgery 4 years ago and is 76. She is also very tired and sleeping 2 to 3 hours during the day and still complaining of being tired. She did not have an injury to cause the black eye, just woke up it this morning. I told her to call the doctors but she does not want to bug him.

High blood pressure and diabetes are very important factors causing cerebrovascular accidents and changes in eye vasculature. Her black eye may be due to the bleed by some vascular event.

You need to take her to an Ophthalmologist for proper evaluation and treatment.
